Restart a Heart Day
Ambulance Victoria (AV) Paramedics from Sale Branch are visiting schools for Restart a Heart day to encourage the idea of Call, Push, Shock. That is – early Call for help 000, Push on the chest (CPR) & Shock the patient if there is a Defibrillator available. Seaspray Surf Life Savers are trained in these life saving skills & can be integral in providing initial life saving care prior to Paramedic arrival. When you have a qualification in First aid including CPR you can register on a phone app called GoodSAM whereby you can be notified of when your skills can save someone’s life by providing CPR & Debrillating (shocking the patient) if you are close to a Defibrillator (which the surf club has!). So, should you be interested in Advanced Resuscitation (CPR) training then please keep an eye out for some of the sessions Seaspray Surf Life Saving Club will be holding throughout the season for its members. It could save a life. If you wish to have your organization involved in informal CPR training by local AV Paramedics relating to Restart a Heart Day (Look it up!!) then please contact Kylie.Carew@ambulance.vic.gov.au or 0428 381 551 for further information.
